The alto solo, enchantingly beautiful sung by Laura Mayer
...The alto Laura Mayer and soprano Evmorfia Metaxaki sang their party with utmost expressiveness, the emotion was almost palpable. Everything had been worked on extremely thoroughly, convincing to the last musical phrase.
Jürgen Feldhoff's review of Gustav Mahler's 2. symphony with the Lübeck Philharmonic Orchestra under general music director Stefan Vladar
Mendelssohns Elijah is Spira's biggest concert this year and with a real climax - all of a sudden it happened: the mezzo-soprano Laura Mayer sings the, to say the least, upset queen who stirs up the crowd against the prophet Elijah. It becomes a piece of musical drama for real. Mayer means was she is singing - Elijah must die - and it's not just the arias bit; she opens her eyes to the audience and even her page turns look furious.
